Weights are determined at equipment pickup and weigh-in. Fractions of a pound will be rounded up to the next pound to ensure consistency and fairness (ex: 75.01 lbs will be rounded up to 76 lbs). These limits are subject to change prior to weigh-in per approval by the EPFA board, with an intent to stay in line with the standards set forth by the Southwest Metro League within which the EPFA operates.
Ball Carrying Players (no stripes): Any player who weighs less than or equal to these weights will be called “Ball Carrying” players which can line up in an offensive position to carry or receive the football (running backs, quarterbacks, flankers and ends). They can also play ANY position on defense.
Grade Weight

4 90 lbs and under (previously <= 85 lbs in 2009 season and earlier)

7 137 lbs and under (previously <= 132 lbs in 2009 season and earlier)
8 153 lbs and under (previously <= 148 lbs in 2009 season and earlier)
Designated Players (single stripe): Players within these weight limits will be called “Designated Players”. These players may not carry the ball or line up in a backfield position, e.g., as a blocking back, at any time during the game. On 7th and 8th grade teams these players can line up as tight end and receive a pass and then advance the ball from that received pass (note: this is not a new rule). They can play ANY position on defense.

Restricted Players (double stripe): This designation has been eliminated, effective for the 2010 season, with some of its restrictions being rolled into the Designated Players weight level.
